NYU Langone Radiology Scheduling App

NYU Langone Radiology Scheduling App is a mobile app that allows patients to schedule imaging exams at NYU Langone Health. It also provides exam preparation instructions, directions to the exam location, and post-exam guidance.

Approach

Built a React-based mobile experience backed by a Python BFF (backend-for-frontend) layer, enabling patients to self-serve imaging appointments while reducing call center load for scheduling staff.

Highlights

Role: Technical Lead Led delivery with a team of 7 (4 Devs, 1 QA, 1 XD, 1 ProdM).

• Delivered the full scheduling flow including exam selection, location-based availability, preparation instructions, and post-exam follow-up.
• Architected a Python/Flask BFF to abstract upstream scheduling system complexity from the frontend.
• Integrated with Epic’s EHR system via the FHIR standard, connecting to multiple Epic-enabled microservices to power scheduling and patient data flows.
• Ran timed contract tests against Epic microservices to ensure integration reliability and catch breaking changes early.
• Maintained comprehensive test coverage across the stack with Jest, Enzyme, Sinon (frontend) and Nosetest (backend).
